January 28, 2022 — The Lincoln Hills Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded a special grant in the amount of $50,000 to The Salt Mine. New California regulations made it necessary for The Salt Mine to retire their current vehicle and purchase one that is in compliance with the state laws that went into effect at the beginning of 2022.

The vehicle is a necessary part of the service provided to this community for both transport of food and supplies and for donation pickup. Though it is easy to find organizations that take donations the challenge is how to get the donations to the chosen organization. The Salt Mine is unique in that it provides door-to-door pickup, a tremendous service to the seniors of Lincoln Hills.

“This purchase was beyond expected expenses for the year and required a loan that came out of our operating budget for the year said, Eric Long, President. This grant from the Lincoln Hills Foundation is both a gift and a blessing. It allows us to pay for the new truck and use the donations we receive to help provide for those in need.”

“The Foundation is delighted to be able to support The Salt Mine with this special grant, said Denise Bowden, President. There are many seniors who rely on The Salt Mine for food boxes and personal supplies as well as the added benefit of transport of their donated items to the Thrift Store allowing them to supplement donations.”

The Lincoln Hills Foundation is a non-profit Community Benefit Corporation 501(c)(3). Tax I.D. #68-0488670.  100% of donations goes back into the community.
