Our History

The Lincoln Hills Foundation was organized in 2002 as a non-profit, tax exempt, corporation founded by residents of Sun City Lincoln Hills.  Through 2017, the Foundation has issued over $391,000 in grants to support groups and non-profit organizations to address independent living needs of seniors. While initially established to meet just the needs of the senior residents of Sun City Lincoln Hills, the Foundation’s vision expanded in 2008 to include all seniors in the City of Lincoln and Sheridan.

In support of this expanded vision, the Foundation has provided funds to such organizations as Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, The Salt Mine, and Seniors First. In 2013, the Foundation continued to expand its scope by offering two community service programs: CPR and First Aid classes. Taught by a certified instructor, these programs raise the awareness of and the ability to effectively respond and assist in emergencies. Lives have been saved by residents who have taken these classes. The Foundation has also provided a free Lecture Series, which were quarterly presentations by local professional experts on legal and financial issues of interest to seniors.

In 2017, as part of its vision for meeting real, practical needs of seniors the Foundation increased its involvement and support. A pilot program for the Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiver’s Support Group, administered by Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, increased benefits available for respite care and access to family counseling, legal and tax-planning assistance.

As our Lincoln residents age, caregiver groups become increasingly more important to the community. Seniors become aware of these groups as they enter transitional phases of their lives and need to reach out to others experiencing similar challenges. The Foundation funds programs and service that will address these needs and allow seniors to remain in their homes.
