April 13, 2021 — The Lincoln Hills Foundation is pleased to announce that it has awarded a grant in the amount of $5375 to the Lincoln Police Department to initiate the Project Lifesaver Program, a public safety program designed to locate wandering or missing persons diagnosed with cognitive disorders.
Project Lifesaver is a non-profit organization whose mission is to use state-of-the-art technology to assist in the location, recovery and safe return of persons with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autism or other such disorders.
The program coordinates the placement of personalized radio transmitter wristbands on individuals who are at risk of wandering away from their homes and trains law enforcement on usage of the tracking mechanism.
This type of technology not only helps track individuals and return them home safely in minimal time, but also benefits communities by significantly cutting down on deployment of and the time spent by local law enforcement and rescue operations in widespread searches.
“The Lincoln Hills Foundation is happy that we are able to support our local Police Department in this important deployment” said vice President Frima Stewart. “Cutting down the time to find a loved one could potentially save a life.”
In a past collaboration with local law enforcement, the Lincoln Hills Foundation has also provided AED’s to the City of Lincoln.
