Ms. Cathey is a native Californian with roots in what has become Silicon Valley. After relocating to San Benito County she worked for World Savings Bank for 23 years with the final nine in Auburn, CA.
Ms. Cathey’s passion for senior care began through personal experience when she was faced with the care of aging parents and in-laws. Realizing that there are no manuals for elder care she developed a class called “Everything You Need to Know to Help Your Aging Parents”. This class was a mainstay at Sierra College and Placer School for Adults for over 15 years.
After her banking career Ms. Cathey went to work for Seniors first for three years as the Placer County Meals on Wheels Coordinator and their Volunteer Coordinator. She then worked for two different home care companies overseeing caregivers and teaching them about various ailments of the elderly.
Ms. Cathey retired to Sun City Lincoln Hills in 2014 and started facilitating the Lincoln Parkinson’s Support Group as well as a Caregiver Support Group. She is active on the Country Couples board, serves as a community Mail Box Captain and is involved in her Church’s Women’s Ministry.
